Roof Burger Bar is a gourmet burger restaurant, located on the 5th floor of Grecian Sands, a well known four star hotel in Ayia Napa. It was a Sunday late afternoon and we had a reservation at the Roof Burger Bar. I was eager to visit the place since I heard very good comments from friends and acquaintances.
The lift reached the top floor and the doors opened. We entered the roof burger bar and we felt like we entered in another dimension. The venue was so tranquil and beautiful. The decor is minimal, and the white colors along with the wood material prevail in the place, stating that less is more. White porcelains with details of blue geometric patterns are decorating the walls and numerous cushions on the sofas with the same geometric patterns give you a welcoming and cozy feeling. The ambiance and the decoration of Roof Burger Bar create the sensation that you are in a cosmopolitan venue somewhere in Cyclades.
We were escorted to our table and from there it was visible the magnificent panoramic view. The red colors of the sunset were uniquely mixed with the crystal blue of the sea and the golden color of the long coastline of Ayia Napa.
The menu includes a variety of amazing starters, refreshing salads, kids’ dishes, desserts, and big selection of drinks including cocktails. Of course the center of attention on the menu is the list of more than a dozen of eclectic, handcrafted burgers made of 100% Angus beef and served with brioche buns, fries, and coleslaw. For starter, we had a dish of delicious nachos with melted cheddar cheese, guacamole, tomato salsa, and sour cream. For main, I ordered the “green melt” burger which is topped with mild cheddar cheese, oven baked tomato, avocado guacamole, caramelized onion, and arugula salad. Instead of ordinary fries, I upgraded my meal by ordering sweet potato fries which were delicious. The burger was so fresh and soft that it was melting in my mouth, and combined with the rest of the ingredients it gave me a mouth watering sensation.
The staff was very friendly and attentive, and the service was excellent reflecting the good standards of the hotel. The restaurants’ prices are higher than the average but are justified by the great value and the whole experience you receive by dining at Roof Burger Bar. The only improvement that I could suggest is to increase slightly the size of the coleslaw salad, which is served as a standard side dish. I believe that the quantity was not enough and if the management increases it a bit, it would look better to the eye and would satisfy more the palate.
Roof Burger Bar has become my favorite place for burger in Cyprus. The restaurant has managed to transform the most iconic international street food into a gastronomic piece of art. Roof Burger Bar impresses with both the quality of food and the amazing interior. And do not forget, it is not just an ordinary roof, it is THE ROOF*.
